A Ditch Witch Skid Steer designed for a wide variety of jobs, the SK800 is made for jobs that .
Responsiveness of controls goes to the SK800. I could barely move the joystick and the machine would move, there was a bit of a delay with the vermeer. Access to filters for regular maintenance the DW wins Use of attachment hydraulics goes to DW. I love the foot detent pedal. Undercarriage goes to Ditch Witch. We also currently have a Ditch Witch 755 which we absolutely love. We just finished doing a demo on the vermeer currently have the 2 ditch witch's setting in the shop. I am leaning towards the SK 850 for a couple reasons the price is really pretty good compared to vermeer and it will still get you in a 36" gate where the SK 1500 will not . Quick attach to attachments worked a lot better. The ditch witch kept missing the holes Hey. Great informative video. I like both these machines. Leaning towards the Vermeer though. I am curious, did you ever find out the down time needed & cost associated with changing out the urethane bushings on the Ditch Witch. I've driven, no jobsite experience the Vermeer 725, Vermeer 800, Bobcat MT85, Dingo TX1000 and Ditch Witch SK850. I didn't drive the SK752, but there is a huge price difference between the 752 and 850. I like the TX1000 and Ditch Witch the best. I was quoted ,350 for the Dingo, ,000 for the SK850 and ,500 for the SK752.
The DW SK800 has a drain line tube that comes out to the front of the machine that makes oil change easy. I agree though they are tight to work on under the hood. But other than that, quite a machine, we just bought our second one
In my opinion for your application there won’t be much difference between the sk800 and 1050 to justify the extra cost. I use my 800 for similar and it does pretty good. I can’t speak for the Bobcat, but in terms of ratings, the extra couple hundred pounds is minimal in the grand scheme of things.
Ditch witch isn't being very helpful is arranging a demo or anything but the bobcat rep is a very good salesman, Delivered and letting me keep the machine for 3-4 days, the bucket doesn't have a cutting blade though, just an old rental so it probably isn't as good as it could be. Hopefully I can arrange a demo with ditch witch. I brought my 2009 SK650 to the dealer to get some hydraulic hoses replaced. He indicated that it would take a week so I asked about getting a rental. They didn't have any available but they told me where to go to rent one. I rented a SK800 for 7 days this morning. I was SHOCKED by how underpowered the machine is. It bogs and turns off constantly.

Demo Review on Ditch Witch SK800 vs Vermeer S925TX. Jump to Latest 21 - 40 of 59 Posts. 1 2 3. B . I am not sure i agree that ditch witch is only good for new contruction. We have both 650 and 525. The wide track 650 isn't bad on turf. The dingo is better on wet turf, but i dont see much difference most days. We have more problems with the dingo track system. Tracks last 400 hours if we are lucky. And tracks are more expensive for the dingo.
