If your buying a new machine, this issues have been sorted by upping the fan speed and also increasing the size of the cooling package and vents on the engine covers. Case's small, medium, and large machines are NOT Kobelcos, but are rather Sumitomos (with Link-Belt). Kobelco makes the NH line for North America; Fiat produces the NH line for Europe.
Im probably too late to comment on this too but ive a few pics on the forum of my ec35 im in the uk and as running a business and done some mistakes in my time the biggest mistake of my life was when i sold my volvo ec35 i can honestly say she was the best 3.5 ton mini excavator ive ever seen im gutted to this day with regret because it was the best allrounder i . I am looking at 4-5 thousand hour 160’s and 210’s for sale in the 02 to 06 year range. Like anything some people have had good and some bad experiences. I would just like. So, an 80 class excavator is squarely in the "midi" category, which usually runs from 6 tons to 10 tons. It should be expected to weight about 16,960 lbs. But, in fact, there is/has been "class creep", because the machines in my chart run from the lightest @ 18,700 lbs (Kobelco KX085) to the heaviest @ 20,410 lbs (Volvo ECR88D).
