Find used skid steers from various makes and models, including Caterpillar, Bobcat, Deere, . Thanks for the input guys! I have a K budget. Looking to buy a used one obviously. I looked for a Kabuta skid steer, and found none used locally.. Only farm tractors.. I see everyone around here using Bobcat and Deere brand. I will look into Gehl. Also, what difference does the HP make? I see some at 45 hp while others at 75+ hp.

Post hole auger is a money maker. I charge .00 a hole 250 min. With the large yards out here, jobs with hundreds of holes are not uncommon. Easy money even in the rocky ground here. Preparator is a rock rake that has been a main stay for almost 15 years for me. Great money maker, very important to my operation. Concrete breaker. We do a lot of small lots here on Vancouver island, most lots run from .07 to .25 acres within the city so full sized skid isn't really always practical. Deep down i want a 257, but they are pricey. I figure my best bet would be to buy a used 236, 242, or 246 and sell it at the end of the year. If i find a good deal on a used one, it almost seems like i could use it for the year and sell it for only 2-3 grand less then i paid for it. I'd like a machine with under 500 hrs and pay 20-25k for it. Heavy Equipment & Tractors . What is the best kind of Skid Steer Out There?

We use an old gehl. an old Cat. and a brand new Tackehuchi for skid steers. I like all 3. Cat has the best parts availability system.

I am looking for a skidsteer too in about the same class as you are (S185-S220 or 743-773). I think a guy could stay fairly busy with a skidsteer doing small jobs for people here and tehre but like any business you've got to stick to a price .

I think the technology on the Bobcats is the best by far but if you want a machine that is powerful, easy to use, and easy to maintain the caterpillars seems to outlast the other companies. I see more cats at construction sites than any other skid steer. I have 2 of the Cat 297D2 XHP's on tracks and they are awesome. They kick butt

Vermeer has spent a great deal of money on perfecting the controls for the s600TX and s800TX and this is where I see them having a small edge over the ditch witch. We rented extensively an s600TX diesel before purchasing the sk650. Thanks for the input guys! I have a K budget. Looking to buy a used one obviously.
