I am having persistent problems with bearings going out on the 10" wheel assemblies on my ASV RC-100 skid steer rubber track loader. It seems as though the seal (part #0307-801) that keeps the grease in and the dirt out of the bearing gets eaten away, and then all my grease comes out, resulting in a shot wheel assembly. THe plates are cold formed to fit the tires shape. I had a cousin make a few about 2 years ago when I got my table burner i cut out his dies for his press to form the grousers. He also built a few sets of tracks from old tractor tires. Hed find a set the when the sidewalls were sawed out he could use as a set of rubber wrap around tracks.
This small machine features mechanical track tensioners, rather than the hydraulic tensioners you would normally see on a modern machine. I am a total noob when it comes to experience with ANY excavator (or skid steer) track tensioners. It is hard to see the idler wheel in the first photo, but the track is almost touching the dozer boom. I don't think it is just track replacement, you can buy aftermarket tracks for 00-00 a pair depending on the machine. What really drives up the maintenance cost is the drive motors. A skid-steer drive motor will typically cost less than 00 and a track-loader drive motor will cost 00-00.
